Hi guys i just went to town to do some shopping at asda and while i was in asda i had my car washed in them pod things and then i came home and just as i was turning the corner the power steering went (good job nothing was on other side of road lol) and the light stayed on. I drove 50yards to where i park my car i then turned the car off and back on again and the light went out :/ this is the first time the car has ever done this to me while owning it. Is it the dreaded motor on its way out?

I could be a few things.

Its not come on again so fingers crossed was just a bad connection at the time

If the steering only trips out at low speed while puting large steering inputs in like parking or swinging into driveways it could simply be a voltage problem. Sometimes new battery cures it.

or just cleaning the earting points and battery connection points and the main power feed cable from Alternator to starter to battery helps too

Cheers i will do it if it fails again

Possibly the relays are wearing out can replace them for £8 on eBay abit of diddly soldering work but worth it
