Hi there,

First of all found issue with punto today where when I put foot on the clutch it makes some sort of weird springing noise? Did not make difference when car was in gear or out of gear still made same noise when ever clutch was pressed down, almost felt as if I could feel slight resistance in the pedal? Any ideas what this could have been?

Also when starting my car the exhaust makes a noise almost as if it's popping, not sure if it's on it's way out or what as not sure where to start looking. Have linked a vid as it may indicate what I mean.

Cheers

Springy clutch is most likely the clutch release having a fight with the diaphram tbh

I cured mine by relubing the sliders points and the bearing release shafts - but thats a gearbox out job todo

If its been in a while, dont worry about it tbh, wait til it lets go

------

The exhaust popping
its more like your actually blowing, that boomy noise i hear
The popping is the sudden changes from a leak sucking air in to then blowing IIRC

There is a big lump of rust in the video - which i believe is the clamp?
Thats probably blowing around there

the blow will only get worse, they hardly ever get better

You need to be able to get the exhaust checked properly to see where its blowing from

I found that yet again my blow was coming from the manifold at the front where i had a huge crack again, (Check the meet bumblee thread at the bottom)

I cudda sworn it was middle car ish - the sound does travel through tunnels

Ziggy

Racing certainty it's the release bearing and springs having a go at each other. There may be one or more springs damaged. The clutch plate itself is in all probability ok. It's a box out job and new kit. Problem about waiting is where and when do you want to be stranded? :)

The clutch issue has been very temperamental, for the past few days been okay but will keep an eye on it and have a look this weekend. As for the exhaust it can also be really temperamental as it's not on every startup. It is booked in for service sometime in December so when it goes in then will address it to the guys there to have a look and if need be sort it out with the rest of the car.

Cheers for the help (y)

because exhausts are often rotten - they are often just pasted to temporarily seal a hole if its small enough

but that often dont last long
