Hi I had a problem with my clutch biting point being to low (just an inch or two off the floor). I thought i would try bleeding the slave cylinder to see if this would solve the problem.

No matter what I do I cant get it to bleed, I have tried gravity bleed and two person bleeding. It almost seems like it is impossible for fluid to flow from the reservoir to the slave cylnder. If I depress the clutch pedal open the slave cylinders nipple fluid will come out then i close the nipple bring the clutch pedal back out and open the nipple again and it just sucks back in the fluid.

Now the clutch pedal has no pressure so I cant drive it.

Thanks for any help.

Hi Alister and welcome:wave:
Sounds like the clutch master not doing it's job. I would check that the slave is free and the flex hose is not breaking up inside which can make it a one way valve and then the master seals. Don't know what availability is like for repair kits but round here a new master is probably the better option.

Isn't the slave cylinder a case of popping the connection back about 5mm to open the bleed port on it?

Yes this is correct, this is how i have been bleeding.

Just to confirm, the clutch master Brendan is talking about is the part labeled 1 in this picture?

Also there as a loud creaking noise coming from the clutch master area so the problem probably is the clutch master.

That's the one. Seals could be gone but... make sure all the lines are clear and the master can actually get fluid from the reservoir and send it to the slave. If the seals have broken up you will need to clean out everything up and downstream of the master anyway. For some unknown reason hydraulic systems accumulate dirt. Flushing regularly helps prevent all kinds of seizures and seal failures.

Thanks for your help guys. I replaced the Clutch Master Cylinder and everything bleed fine.

The clutch pedal feel so much smoother now and the creaking noise I heard was the clutch master cylinder.

A tip for anyone who does this in the future is the connection between the clutch master cylinder and the metal pipe that goes to the slave cylinder has a metal clip to pull out similar to the one on the slave cylinder.
