Yes, you're wrong I'm afraid, it gets VERY hot under the bonnet....
Al the hot air coming from the radiator flows straight into the enginebay, and there it meets the hot engine...
That's the reason the original airbox sucks air in from outside the enginebay.


(Btw, it's a good habit to open the bonnet after a hard ride, to let the engine cool down quicker...injectors don't like heat for a long time, and with all the (noise) insulation in todays cars, it keeps the enginebay hot for a long time, even after shutting down the engine).


Then how does the aluminium pipe stay cold if it's sucking hot air in through the filter?
