Hi,

I have a 2003 Fiat Punto 8v Active which came with a cassette player.



I have just received a second hand CD unit this morning which I won on ebay



After swapping out the old cassette player and connecting up the CD unit it will not switch on. Is this unit compatable ?, the person stated the CD unit had come from a 2003 model.

I think it may be a dud, but before I contact the seller for a refund can anyone answer the following question:

I have noticed the CD unit is missing 2 pins on the back lower connection block (the 2 inner pins on the bottom row) please see picture below.



Would this be a factor in why the new unit won't power on ?

The original cassette player has these pins, see pic below



Just for confusion, the male block which which connects to the stereo seems to have some missing so are all pins actually required ?



What do you think ??

it shouid be plug & play if your punto is mk2a
it wont work in mk2b

you have a plug missing there, it shouid be Displaying ' CAN-CHECK' on the display with this missing,

edit ithink your car is mk2b,

if so that stereo wont work,

ive got a mk2b one.. do you want to swap

My fiat is as in the picture below - second generation facelift, does that make it a MK2b ?

you have the 2003 /2006 punto mk2b as distinguished by radio youve shown as fitted and you have biggy headlights

its not the sellers fault he probably doesnt even know

should have been they are £10 in my breakers and a quick code off this site would have you singing in an hour

yeah agreed its not sellers fault, mk2a goes up to late 2003 so hes not miss sold this item,

easy to tell which radio is out of what tho, the shape is differnt,

idid similar thing as op here and bought mk2b one thinking it will work in mk2a
ah well we live and learn,

Hi I also have a 2003 8v active punto fitted with the original blaupunkt cassette player. Where can I purchase the correct blaupunkt CD player please? Thanks
