Hi , My Aircon was working last year , but this year its appears to be very lackluster in its coolness , so i am guessing it needs to be refilled , after 11 years , i am based in the West midlands near stratford / leamington spa , can any one reccomend where to have it refilled and how much it should cost.....i assume there is no kit i can buy to refill it myself ?!?!

DIY refill kits are pointless and expensive best to get it done properly.

Usually around £50 to get it done most places

Aircon is a sealed system

If it needs ""refilling"" means there is a leak and refilling is pointless as it'll just leak out again

It needs a decent vacuum test to ensure it can hold a vacuum before hitting it with the correct amount of lubricant and ""gas"" refill

its perfectly natural to need a regas over time
best left to someone who does it regularly though rather than a fast fitter using old slops because hes been on the course and has the 7543
if i run a car with aircon i always turn it on once a week to keep the o rings supple
not neded one this last three years though
sad but true

Its best to use aircon during the demisting in winter

For 2 reasons
1 which SandB said, the lubricating oil will be circulated around the system keeping its seals fresh and prevent things rotting internally

2 - The demisting is quicker because of the dehumidifier in them

Had mine refilled yesterday for £20 by the vw specialists next door to my brothers workshop

They vacuumed 10g of gas off before refilling with the 570simthing grams the system needs, it's amazing it was still working with so little gas in the system.

They also added some fresh oil and dye to keep it all running sweet and spot any leaks if they happen

Works lovely now not bad having to have an aircon service once every 10 years
