Hello everyone. Very glad to find this forum. Have just bought a 2000 W-Reg Punto JTD. I find that the air conditioning does not blow very cold, even at A road speeds. Is this normal? I am used to American and Japanese cars that have REALLY cold air. I am guessing it probably needs a recharge, so:

1. Where can I buy a recharge kit in the UK?

2. Where is the low pressure valve in the Punto A/C system?

3. Does the 2000 Punto use R-134a?

Any info, diagrams, pics, advice most welcome.

Thanks all, in anticipation.

James.

A further note to add.... Have located a supplier of refridgerant.. so my original question is simplified:

There are 2 ports in the A/C system. One is up high, near the brake reservoir. The other is down low, in front of the engine right next to the compressor. On my Punto both have black caps. The rear one appears to be larger than the front one.

Which one is the 'low' side? i.e. which one is used for recharging? I think it is the one in the front, but can someone PLEASE PLEASE confirm this. And please confirm it uses R134a.

Thanks,

James

unsure as to what refridgerant you need as my jtd hasnt got aircon, but regassing isnt something you can do yourself, you need to evacuate the system to virtual vacuum, introduce the right amount of lubricant and refridgerant gas....... my last car (cavalier v6 CDX, had to be regassed about every 3 years), it cost me approx £100 to have it done, hope this helps.....

Got a PSI Powerbox for sale of my 01 JTD I sold. gives 25% more power costs £370 but mines less than 1/2 price. See dieselchiptuning.com and e-mail me for more details [email protected]

You'll have to excuess my ignorance here - My Air Con on my mk2 2002 sporting has stopped working, the light comes on and it makes a strange noise as if its trying to work, but fails.
I don't have a clue when it comes to cars really, do i need to sort out some gas or something then?
Sorry for the lack of knowledge here guys :-(
