Hello all it's me once again...
I've just had a long drive in my Punto, about 50 miles round trip, and every time I get up to traffic lights it feels like my car is juddering... It's definitely the exhaust juddering underneath the car and is making the whole car judder. It's starting to worry me because I just had a new back box fitted today.. Maybe because of this has it highlighted another damaged exhaust part? Also it feels as though it's down on power sometimes when I pull away.. It's as if my engine misfires for a second.. Could a spark plug be the problem for the juddering aswell? Please can anyone help.. This punto seems to just keep mounting up and mounting up the problems it's got...
And help would be greatly received..

Regards
Rhys

Do you know that it is not actually a misfire? Test the HT leads in the dark for arcing or just replace if old, they are cheap enough.

I had a problem with the car the day i picked it up from the garage i brought it from.. i was driving it home, went over a bump and i lost all power and the car sounded like a tractor... I swiftly took it back and the guy said it was a misfire on the second cylinder because of a cracked HT lead rod.. he also told me that he'd replaced it.. now I'm no mechanic, but when you replace HT leads and spark plugs, aren't you meant to do them all at the same time?
Could this be why i seem to have a misfire when putting my foot down after changing gear? Its a definite spike of power loss, but if i change gear slowly and keep the revs up it has no problems..? And then when I get to traffic lights the exhaust starts juddering and when you take a listen round the back it sounds like its popping and bubbling every few seconds.. It happened yesterday at some traffic lights and even the revs were dipping slightly too, but it hasn't done that since.. I'm so confused..

Cheers,
Rhys

It makes sense, they come in a pack of four what is the sense in only fitting one and being left with 3, all different lengths?

If I was you I would try the easy/cheap stuff first so replace leads and clean throttle body while you have the airbox off. If it doesn't fix then move onto coil packs, there is a good guide on here for diagnosing a faulty coil!

Thanks first of all, its nice to get a good diagnosis finally :) do you think that the slight misfire feeling could be because of different spark and HT leads?

Sorry dude but I haven't diagnosed anything just suggesting you follow the tried and tested method that I've seen work for loads of people on here (including myself :)). Last thing you want to do is throw money at something replacing ecu and all sorts and then it turns out to be something simple.

You will be able to tell how old the leads are by looking at them, should be especially clear if one looks newer but I doubt he would have only replaced one. If you take the airbox off in pitch dark (no street light) run the car and let your eyes adjust you will be able to see arcing if leads are bad.

Ok thanks :) I don't know whether I should be driving on it like it but I kind of have to.. I've got no other form of transport... On Friday I am going to my girlfriends house (which is a good 70 mile journey) and her dad is a mechanic so I'm gunna get him to have a look at the sparks and ht leads for me then.. I've just looked at them and they all look rather new.. However, I push all of them to see if they were located properly and one of them felt alittle higher than the others and when I pushed it, it went in further.. I don't know whether that was just the cover of the lead or what... Also a quick question.. Where is the coil pack?
