I recently had my oil and filter changed, air filter, spark plugs and pollen filter changed. The car has been running great but for some reason the rev neeedle is occasionally dropping around 0.5 and fighting with itself to get back to the correct point. Yesterday I were driving off a retail car park at slow speeds and it just cut out, it did it around 4 times and then it were okay and still is now?

Any ideas guys?

the punto will quiet often "hunt"
ie the revs bob up and down, now unless there is a big fault i've never been bothered to diagnose, i simply ignore

But cutting out is something different
HT's aren' worth testing IMO - just buy new and get on with it

Its not the resistance thats the issue, its the electrical leakage that tends to occour first - ie you find it arcin out instead of to the plug

It's a 1.4 16v

what year is your punto?

if its a 06 it may be a mk2b still - if its a 2006 '56' onwards, then its a grande punto

The mk2b did have the 1.4 engine as well but more rare really
My advice is to see if any codes are stored in the ECU
i suspect that 1 sensor is ""lying"" as result its mucking up the fuel to air and causing it to cut out

Does it only do it when warm? or randomly?

It's a 2004 MK2b 1.4 Sporting.

It's only done it the one time, on saturday..... I have done a lot of miles recently, roughly 2500 -3000 in the last 8 weeks! The cut outs on saturday have been the only time that it's happened. I drove home last night (200 miles, mixture of steep hills, country roads and motorway driving) and the car were perfect, no problems at all!

its sounding like a poor connection then?

i would be half tempted to run around the engine bay - removing each connector - spraying some wd into them - shake excess loose and refitting them all nice and tight!

Say if a Crank sensor pops out slightly - the car fails to run - at all

What connections are we talking about? I don't really have an idea as to what I'm looking for or doing?
