Hi guys I own an 04 plate 5dr Punto 1.2 Active with 119k. I was driving my car today and my engine warning light came on. I immediately panicked and pulled into a layby. Popped the bonnet and couldn't figure out what the fault could be. It wasn't overheating, no knocking or misfires. It starts, runs and pulls well with no sign of anything that could be broken. All fluids are full up and all of the lights work.

Weird thing is that when I have the ignition on the battery and oil lights are on aswell as the engine light.

I'm thinking of getting it repaired and then replacing it with a newer Grande Punto but I don't want to take it to Fiat who will charge me more than what the car is worth for a repair.

If it helps I could make a short video to give you more of an idea of this predicament. Anyone who can shed any light on this situation will be hugely appreciated.

Without the engine running the battery light comes on to tell you its not charging the battery, and the oil light comes on when there is no oil pressure again should go out with engine running.

Chances are you've had a little misfire or something certainly not worth throwing the baby out with the bath water

Thanks Andy that's putting me at ease. Ill just keep my eye on her
