Punto MK2 - Headlight issues.

Ive just changed my passenger headlight for a brand new one. Everything was exactly the same except where as the original took H2 bulbs this one takes H7. The side lights work. The headlights work but when it comes to putting full beams on the indicator light comes on instead (not flashing but fully on)

With it being a new light i think the earth point is fine, the connections are new, and all the bulbs work fine as i have switched the two main bulbs.

Please help!!! :bang:

If this maybe a Earth, Fuse or Relay problem then please provide detail on location
eg.
Which point is the earth for the light
Which fuse is it (Exact location)
Other theads mention the 'relay' what is this and where is it located.

When the indicator is put on - can you see the headlight flashing instead?
And we on about the whole cluster (im assuming so)

To me it sounds potentially like there is a problematic earth

My advice is this, since you clearly know how to get the light in and out, persivere with this idea

Swap the LH and R/H lights over, JUST for testing obs
Does the fault repeat when swapped over new cluster? Yes, most likly a dud cluster
If the old headlight when put into the New clusters spot (passenger side) then develops a fault, its going to be wiring most likley

If its just bulbs you've done - then h2 are odd bulbs, Did you mean H1 and h7?

The bulb difference should alter how it works, there have people with h1 on one side and h7 on the other, its randow which you get within the punto range

I had h7 both sides in olde mk2

Thanks for your suggestions.

There is no other problems so no the headlight does not flash.
And yes i did mean the H1 and it was the full headlight not just the bulbs.

That is a good suggestion i will maybe try it, its just time consuming. Althought not a hard task it took ages due to rusted bolts, sheared heads and the damn cold.

p.s. there was no fault with the old light just the typical smokey glass.

your lights been wired up wrong at the factory
had a few over the years
sometimes i keep them and the distributer sells me it for 50% off
i suggest you let seller know

Yeah i thought that could be the problem, but when i put my indicator on it does work.
I expected my full beam to be flashing if the wires were just wrong.
Or is that not the case.

Thanks for your reply, may just have to send them back.
