I need to buy a timing belt kit and water pump for my punto but I'm unsure what one I need to get.

Do I need an automatic tensioner or manual for the timing belt?

and for the water pump do I need one for a 'pierburg braking system' or for 'magna/tesma braking system'. The person I spoke to when trying to order asked what one I needed after giving my registration.

Car is a 2005 (55) Punto 1.2

If no-one at home can tell you if it is 8v or 16v, take a pic of the top of the engine and post it here. Someone will tell you which you've got.

The water pump question is a strange one. I think Fiat sourced from both at different times, but they are interchangeable, and on the later engine all move to one part number anyway. So ask for one with a metal impeller, not plastic.

Put your full vin number into ePER, see link at top of page and it should answer all the questions.

8 valve has a rubber plug/ bung where you pour the oil in the top of the engine = fixed tensioner /
16 Valve is a screw-on cap = sprung tensioner.

Bought magna or pierburg?
(It is better to check by vin code in such cases, at catalogue shows magna and pierburg but as per vin code, eper shows magna for my car)
