Hi all,

Got a problem with my punto, its had a bit of a bumpy idle for years (very minor, only notice it if your looking for it)

But now my revs bounce between 500rpm and 1000rpm. It doesn't do it constantly, but tends to do it more when the engine is warmed up ( never on cold engine)

Other than that the engine runs very smoothly, just the issue with idling.

Any idea what it could be?

My first problem is opening the bonnet! tried to tonight and the cable appears to have snapped!

I would try cleaning the throttle body maybe, just remove the air filter and you should be able to do it while its still in there.

Throttle body on 8v, more likely throttle potentiometer on fly by wire 16v. (Stupid idea.)

I actually have a spare throttle body in the garage (not entirely sure why if I'm honest) so could put that on and see if it makes a difference.
