Hi i am abit new to this and i am not the most mechanical minded person in the world but have no problem having a good go. Anyways on to my problem, i`m having trouble in the mornings with the car starting for the first time over night to do the school run, but it struggles and gives up after a couple turns of the key. Battery cant be too bad as 5 minutes on the charger it is fully charged and the engine cranks over fine. I also read that an after market stereo fitted could drain the battery so for a week i removed the stereo and fuse just to make sure, but problem was still there. After the first start in the morning though it is fine for the day it is only first thing in the morning when i truly need it to do the school run it is getting really fustrating is there any help?

A battery which charges fully after 5 minutes is quite likely to be flooked.

Most Motor Factors will drop test a battery for free. You can test the alternator output with a simple multimeter across the battery terminals. Set the scale to 20v DC, measure the voltage with the engine off, engine running, engine running and all the lights, fans, etc. full on.

Report back.
