Hey, I posted before about this problem but it seems to have changed a bit
First thing- loss of power and engine management light
Second came a misfire
Changed front lamba, no look, changed plugs and wires and misfire went but still no power and engine management light
Error codes are P0340, U1602 and U1702, one of these is to do with cam sensor so changed that no difference, cleaned map sensor no difference, used redex no difference, its really annoying!!
Anyway now, when cold and in 1st, 2nd and 3rd if you ease off the accelerator or cruise at the same speed it starts jolting like hell 2-3 times in a row and just in general when you ease off the accelerator it jolts once, like its being starved of fuel or oxygen, checked the fuel pump, wires seem fine and its pressurised, and now, this is the important part, the ecu makes a high pitched wierd noise contantly, i can even hear it over driving!
Could it be the ecu or wiring? The ecu noise i have just noticed today and 'coincidentally' its raining, dodgy earth maybe? Ideas please :( :(

Hi!

Have you checked for voltage at the Cam sensor? Also have you checked the wiring multi connectors on the ECU?

You can Google for these codes. In the case of P0340:

Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction. So it could be any part of the wiring to the CPS.

And so on.

Another approach which is useful is to clear all the codes and drive the car until the ECU light comes on, then re-read. This often gives just one code (or one fault) which will have triggered all the others.

Hi again,

I see from your other thread that all this started straight after you fitted an induction kit? And that you have a 1.2 16v

Which induction kit did you fit?

Did you remove or disturb the Ecu or lean on the connectors on it when fitting the induction kit?

I would be taking a close look at the 2 connectors on the ECU as all the faults are wiring / connection related, and it's a bit of a coincidence that it started straight after fitting the induction kit.

Disconnect the battery and then carefully remove the two connectors on the Ecu. Check for any signs of damage or corrosion to the pins. Give them a clean with electrical contact cleaner if you have any. Then replace the connectors and make sure they fit firmly.

On the cam sensor, check that you have good continuity between the black cable and negative on the battery. The orange and black cable should have around 5v with the ignition on (engine off).

If you want you can do continuity tests between the sensor and the ECU connector. This will check the wiring between the two.
