I've had an annoying squeak for months now and its getting progressively louder and much more irritating.

It sounds like its coming from near the tailgate towards the passenger side, its a very high pitched squeak that sounds like its coming from inside the car and im finding it almost impossible to find and diagnose.

Any help and advice would be much appreciated, im getting sick of turning up the radio full blast to drown out the noise!

I had the handbrake cables replaced a few weeks ago as the one side had snapped, so they are brand new, but the squeak has been there for as long as I can remember. Which part of the cable needs greasing?

theres a connector the last part of the cable sits in and it shifts in this and squeaks as the axle goes up and down
a little grease usually cures it
we arent sure its this of course
you might have a boarding lodger up the fuel lines that likes cheese

Hi mate, I have the exact same problem and it's driving me insane! This might sound ridiculous, but how do you grease up the handbrake cable? Please help me guys

Strangely enough, I too have a very annoying squealing sound. Now, mine is constant but goes when I touch the brakes. I've read on here that the cure is to wind back the rear brake calliper to reset it.
Is your squeak constant or more of a rubbing squeak?

Phil

Mine is definitely a rubbing squeak! I'm going to try what seems to have worked on here, as soon as I know what to do that is :(

I don't know what I'd be greasing hahaha. Totally clueless to be honest.

Behind the back wheels, you will see the handbrake cable going into the rear hubs, the last part of the cable near the end sits in a clip its not hard to find, take it out the clip and give the cable a generous grease up and then replace the cable in the clip. It would be easier to access it with the back wheels off but i managed to do it with the wheels on without a problem, hope this helps!

Thank you for the reply. I actually did it first thing this morning, worked a treat! (y)
