When i first got my car i noticed the boot light didnt work. I changed the the Bulb no luck. Changed the Holder no luck. I then ran a temporary to a ground point and it work left this wire there, closed boot and Doesnt turn off :( so i think the switch between car and bootlid is faulty.

Any ideas how to get asround this ?

Thanks

the switch is built into the actual catch on the boot lid

pop the cowling off - and have a good look and check of the actual catch

A wire could have broken at any point - so its hard to prove where its broken if this is the case

Normally tho - its the catch that fails, simply get another boot lock - change the tumbler over and enjoy a candle amount of light in the boot

----

Also i believe the boot light is negative triggered
depending how canbus dependant your version is - the light will stay on for 20mins before going off
The ECU provides the power for 20mins, the boot catch opens and closes the circuit :)

So if the boot is open for more then 20mins the ECU will turn the power off for you preventing the car from been flat in the morning :)

does door open light work on dash?
does it have one a red symbol?
scrappies should be full of these for a fiver just change barrel over when out with the philips screw
you can check a broken switch by closing the latch in it further as if shut with a screwdriver but with tailgate open if you understand me?

No lights on dash my car is to basic for the door open warning light lol :p, my car doesnt have central lockiing.

Im guessing when purchasing a latch it must be from a non Central locking car?

Are all Puntos meant to have the "Open Door Warning Light"? When my mate had his Punto MK2 Sporting Active (I believe it was W reg) it had that warning light, but mind you being an Active and Sporting it'd have extra features...

I've never had that light on mine even put a new speedo in and nope nothing  unless I'm missing something here? But Fiat told me mines just a base model no Active no Mia no nothing just Fiat Punto MK2 :slayer:

So could one of you brainboxes confirm its only on certain models or all models that have this warning light, thanks :D

old punto didnt tell of boot open warning - light worked tho in boot and the dash light worked - as when i opened the door it came on :)

mk2b A.sport does warm me when boot is open tho, nothing a speed bump wont sort tho :)

so you telling me I'm suppose to have that warning light? could my door sensor be knackered? Although boot light works interior lights comes on when door opens etc but no warning light  Where is the sensor on the doors? I bet somewhere stupid...

in the actual Central locking mechanism
Thats sealed up and only a few spokes and multi wire attach

Mind you tho - i have seen some punto's in the scrappy with little black trigger switchs on them, however been in a scrap yard - they are non ignitionable to find out

I guess that rules that one out mines doesnt have C/L but I know my doors have those little things side of door that you push in and light goes off release light on ...
