Hi guys, I have a 2002 fiat punto 1.2 and the bloody power steering is gone.

I was just wondering if someone could find me some links on where I could get a part for the car to rectify the problem? Do I need a power steering electric motor or a power steering pump?

Steering is rock solid.

Would like to spend as little as possible as I am selling the car.

many thanks

:yeahthat: They are very picky about supply voltage. IIRC the fuse is 60A so do the math - someone thinks that 700W might be going down that way and the alternator is not capable of that. If the battery is cold, old and full lock is applied just after a start with maybe lights ,fans etc the p/s just trips out. Centering the steering and restarting usually lets it up again if the battery is at fault.

What's they fault code? It could possibly be battery related if it's a few years old and on its way out. How old is the battery

Cannot be the battery, I have recently bought a bosch one around 3 months ago, brand new on ebay.

Sorry, not very technical with cars, how can I find the fault code?

As them man says.

But can't be the pump as car does not have one.

Never say never, could be a faulty battery.

Could also be the battery terminals, so get them checked for security. Fault code can be read with a diagnostics machine at a dealership, or you can do it yourself using MultiECUscan(.net) software and required lead (y)
