Following on from this thread -

https://www.fiatforum.com/punto-ii/302809-punto-2003-8v-few-questions.html

I have bought a code reader.

The following codes where present -

P0302 - Cylinder 2 misfire detected
P0130 - O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction Bank 1 Sensor 1
P0352 - Ignition Coil B Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction

I read that if a coil pack was faulty, this could cause an overfuelling problem, which in turn would bring up a O2 sensor fault.

I bought replacement coil packs and leads, cleared the codes and fitted the coil packs etc hoping that it would be an easy fix.

However, this is not the case...

The car starts fine, no issues, then a few seconds later, once it begins to idle, it becomes very lumpy and the RPM goes up and down like a yo-yo. I haven't driven it, it's just been started it on the driveway.

I can also smell the unburnt petrol in the exhaust fumes.

The problem I have now, there are no fault codes coming up and the EML is off.

i would suggest you HAD 2 problems
coil caused unburnt fuel to enter exhaust damaging lambda
youve cured the misfire but lambda now going in to rich mode as its gone faulty then switching to lean
po13o
ideally you need live data to confirm this or to probe the ecu with a scope
you wont have the gear to do this so i would suggest changing lambda before you kill the cat

or hand the car to someone who can do the checks and an emmissions test

Thanks for the reply. I'll pass that on. Was hoping it was a quick fix, but nothing is these days! LOL

Any idea how much a lambda sensor is? I did try to remove them, but they seem to like being where they are!

Wrong, or right its probably something I need to try to look at and the advice, again, wrong or right, is always very much appreciated!

I bought 2 for £25 total at the scrappies a few weeks ago.

It's worth getting more than 1, you can never be sure of the condition of the one you're getting.

unless you want to stand in the middle of a scrapyard testing them with a blowtorch

I seem to remember they are about £100 aftermarket from motor factor, dearer from Fiat
