i have a 2001 punto jtd, the clutch & gearbox blew up, iv put on a new flywheel/clutch and second hand gearbox, i cannot for the life of me get the gearbox back on! it goes about 2cm away from being fully on but just wont slide on the last bit, seems mad that i cant work it out, dowels are same/line up, clutch is lined up, but just cant get the bloody thing to go on, any ideas? really stressing me out now, im a mechanic and iv had 2 other mechanics look for me, it looks fine but wont go on

did u check the clutch fited on the splines of the gearbox shaft be for bolt the clutch on

yes, and the clutch doesnt seem to be the problem, i can move the flywheel/clutch easy enough when the box is 'on'

its not something silly like an uprated clutch for a 1.9 ducato or a gearbox from something else which has a longer input shaft? in this case it is something a grinding disc could cure
