Hi there wondering if anyone can help me.

I accidentally broke off the Rear view mirror in my mk2 punto including the fixing plate which took a lovely chip out the windscreen.

Anyway I'm getting the windscreen replaced but I've misplaced the "plate" that you need to affix the window so you can slide the mirror on and off.

I don't have a clue what this plate is called and I'm not even sure you can buy it seperately.

Does anyone know where I can buy this plate? Or if I can't can you buy the whole mirror fitment including the plate? I'm using a suction one as of now but it's very crappy and won't go where the chip is so can't bring down my visors or it blocks the mirror!

Thanks for the help.

I can see the mirrors on the bay but it doesnt seem you get the plate with it. May give autoglass a call tomorrow see if I can blag a mirror, but dont know if they even stock them! The annoying thing is I know the plate is in the house somewhere. Sods law I'll find it after I purchase it.

The new windscreen will come with this fixing point already installed on it, at least my new pilkington screen did

you dont understand:)
the plate is glued to the glass then the mirror slides onto the plate
you are thinking of the banding where the mirror attaches

little tip ~~~~dont use superglue to attach these plates always use the gauze and kit you can buy or you will end up breaking the screen like the op did

i still dont understand?

that piece that the mirror slides onto? it came already attached to the windscreen when i was being replaced, so the guy just slid the mirror off the old screen, then slid it onto the new screen when he installed it.

I didn't use superglue. It was the manufacturer glue that it was glued onto the window I accidentally hit it with force and it chipped off!

need to remove mine ( long story..)

seems to be a small hole in the mirror block, is there a tab/ screw in there..,

or does it just slide upward with a tap
