Hey new to these forums so bare with me if i make a mistake :)

so i got my fiat around 3 years ago. (Mk2 year 2000 1.2lt)
and i dont know much about her to be honest but i had this 5L bottle of 10w/40 oil (PART SYNTHENIC) and ran out of today doing an oil top up and had to go buy more to finish the job.

My problem is that i bought a 10w/40 2l bottle but its mineral and im afraid to put it in before asking some experts about this, i also seen other bottles like 5w/30 and stuff and was just wondering the difference? so can someone tell me what the right/best oil is to do (TESCO BRANDS btw)

And the other problem is that when i have the heating off heat comes out of all the vents, dashboard / feet etc.. its not blowing hard but you def feel is coming out, why is this?

Thankyou!:D

so will i need to change this mineral oil to the syth one?

so the fans thing is normal?
thats good.

Dont worry about the mineral/synth its not a highly stressed engine and you used the correct grade. It will be ok. Not so long ago much more stressed engines were running on mineral oils. Dont worry about it.

As with pretty much all cars on the road, it has a continuous air flow through the heater. The fan simply boosts the airflow. If you want no heat turn it to blue. If you want no flow slide it to recirc but expect the windows to mist up PDQ.

While we are on about heaters - If you hear gurgles you have air in the cooling system meaning a leak has developed. Leave it gurgling and you will blow the head gasket. ALWAYS check the coolant and oil every week and more often if you have any work done. Head gaskets are not weak but low coolant will bow the gasket.

Winter is coming. NOW would be a good time to flush the cooling system and fill it with new red antifreeze. Ideally chemical flush it and then fill with water because on old cars it can uncover hidden leaks. When you know its good drain the water and pour in 2 litres of concentrate top up with water.

See the forum guides for how to bleed air from the cooling system. This MUST be done when ever the level gets below minimum for any reason.
