I have a Fiat Punto S, which doesn't come with central locking. I would like to install remote central locking and have my doors delocked, due to my car being broken into via the locks a fortnight ago. However, I have been looking for a remote central locking kit and all I can find are the upgrade kits to central locking. Are there remote central locking kits out there that you can put into a car without the standard central locking? Wrighty

Hey,

You can get a central locking kit and remote locking kit from ebay pretty cheap. You cannot fit a remote locking kit without the solenoids that come with a central locking kit. The remote locking works by replacing the command module from the central locking kit with one that works by remote. I think you can get both together off of ebay for around £30, not bad and you are guaranteed that they will be compatible (in theory).

I have seen an item on ebay that I believe is suitable for my car. Just a reminder, i dont have central locking and would like to install Remote Central Locking, is this item suitable for my car?

why not just get the components off of a set of sx doors from a scrappy... at least then you know that it all should fit and you'll be able to install electric windows at the same time..

Then you have to get the doors all filled and smoothed and sprayed.....lot cheaper not to keep out expensive in your car in the start :)

My car was broken into a fortnight, via the lock, and so i have a lock that doesn't work and a door with a nasty dent in it, this is the only alternative I can think of. I guess that installing remote central locking will also increase the value of the car aswell. I have just been reading through a recent post and have been looking on the Maplin website, which is quite helpful and I am hoping to buy the full kit on there. As for the filling in the wholes, and spraying the doors, im lucky enough to have a friend who is a mechanic so it wont be too expensive (y)

go on go for it. it'll make the car mint. i got a remote central locking kit off ebay for £20 couple of months ago. well worth the cash.

I fitted my central locking to my punto, after the same thing happening to me in sheffield.
I then got a toad alarm fitted and the guys in the shop did that bit for more, so now have remote central locking and its all alarmed. The kit i got of ebay ages ago and cost me about a 20squid and i think then the alarm was a fair bit but better save than sorry.

Does the trick.

I also have a Punto S, which didnt come with any Central Locking

I got the relay and motors for the central locking from the local scrappy for £10 and then got the upgrade kit for £50. it works really well, although fitting was the most difficult part, taking around 2 hours...

I personally would avoid the "universal" kits like the plague, as they are an absolute b1tch to fit, I tried that approach before opting for the Punto one from scrappy, miles easier...

3/5 door motors are the same, and there are only 2 motors to worry about as the boot is not part of it...

Hope this helps...

Hi Glenny, I'm new to the forum and found your post above. Do you know what colour wires are used to connect the RCL lock and unlock wires.

Thanks
