I took my car (02reg FIAT PUNTO 1.2 16V) in for a service today and they advised that I had four fault codes showing up when they checked the EDU. They said they couldn't tell me what they where unless I paid for someone from outside of the garage to come in and run the diagnostic test to tell me what the codes were, which confused me as they gave me the codes with my service sheet.

Anyway I looked up the codes myself (free of charge) and they are due to engine misfiring (P0300, P0301, P0304) and a lamda sensor pre heater fault (P1135), last week my car lost all acceleration, the check engine light came up and then the engine kicked in as normal and jolted forward, then drove as normal. I thought at the time it was because I was running on the last of my petrol!

I now know I need to go and have my engine looked at but can anyone give me a heads up with how much it will cost to have the lamda sensor replaced or is it something I can do myself?

As for the misfiring would a full service including spark plug replacement rectify this of do I need to check the leads?

And if anyone can give me a decent place in Liverpool to have the work done, I'd be very grateful!

Cheers

K

A full service will help but if its running rich due to a lambda fault that will cause a missfire. But also the missfire can cause a lambda fault. Chicken & egg

So get it serviced and recheck the lambda values.

I had it serviced today and that's when I found out about the fault codes, so do you mean drive it for a bit and see if any more faults appear or physically test the lamda? I think I may need to invest in one of those EDU cables if thats the case!
