OK, have searched and read and read and searched etc etc and am about to imitate an 'oolie goolie' bird and disappear up my own anus - Q is: exactly what do I need to reset an airbag (+ elec power steering) to daughers newly acquired mk Punto (2004).

Car when tested, and 3 days later when driven 110 miles home, showed no faults until 45 miles away from home. Elec power steering light came on after a 45 min stop ---- now comes on and off intermittently but elec steering is ALWAYS available/on. At the same time yellow passenger airbag light started coming on (flashing on initial start up) followed by red drivers airbag light - both lights are now on constantly -- played with the ON/Off airbag switch and cleared but keeps coming back --- methinks an elec connection issue rather than a blown unit but I have limited checking facilities - used sons Citreon Xsara SEALEY VS863 and got basic info but not airbag/abs data. Have an ELM327 + freebie software from a few years ago and not checked this yet but as far as I can tell I need some specific ECUSCAN cables +++ wot --- to make sure I can reset airbags and steering --- physical issues of wiring being the issue I can cope with........
