i basically want to leave the engine running for around an hour with pedal slightly on. to charge battery.
but dont want to sit in the car.
is theire an easy way to like dissconnect gear stick, clutch.
not a fan of removing wheels

Also bear in mind that if you are going to leave your car running without supervision, you cant do it on a public highway otherwise you are committing an offence.

Best and safest way as already said, is to use a battery charger, or just take the car for a nice long cruise somewhere.

this

and if you leave your car running with the keys and someone robs it the insurance wont pay out if they crash it because they will say you left it unattended

Cheapest and easiest is to get a battery charger and just disconnect the battery from the car and charge it for a couple of hours :slayer:

insurance wouldn't pay out regardless its uninsured why i cant drive to charge it. not moved since 5th of November.
idea or disabling was to make it impossible to move.
got dad to bring charger from work being on 5 hours so far.
do think it will be kaput tho

Battery chargers are BETTER for batteries than day to day running! An altenator can't provide the constant and stable charge of a mains powered charger. Also you can get desulphating chargers which can restore battery life.

Have a read.

Lead acid cells should never charge at more than 10% of their amp-hour capacity. So a 45 AH battery should never charge at more than 4.5 amps and ideally a lot less for maximum charge with minimum wear & tear.

Get an Optimate charger for about £40 and you'll never need another charger. It can be connected indefinitely without battery damage and can recover batteries that have been accidentally over discharged dead flat. But if the battery is old its quite probably on its way out anyway so dont expect miracles.

The best way to disable a car is with a wheel clamp or Stoplock. The latter would make sense anyway to deter joyriders from trying their luck.
