first, sorry for the random Q's i know some of these pop up a lot.

i am going to try and get a genuine rocker cover gasket for my gf's punto, its a 02 plate 1.2 8v. does anyone have the part number that i can take to my local dealers? i did search but only found 16v one.

another question is regards to induction kits and insurance, going to phone them tomorrow and ask them how it effects the premium, whats the best way of putting it to them? say like im looking to replace the standard air box with a direct replacement performance air filter for mostly economy gains? i did an online quote with her insurance and the air filter didn't effect it.

she does want it lowered a little too, but i wont be doing that till sometime next year, so should i hold off asking them for a quote on that just in case it might give them the wrong idea (boy racer)?

just looking for a bit of advice on these things from someone who has declared things.

For the rocker cover, just give the dealer a ring - about £8 IIRC
I was lucky, and they had one on the shelf. When doing the job, just make sure to thoroughly clean all surfaces.

As for the air filter, they probably won't care if you say "for economy gains" they'll probably just hear "different filter" - just be up front with them "I'm looking to change my air-filter for a non-oem spec one. How will this affect the policy?"

Could ask them for a quote including lowering. Might also be an idea to hold off on the filter and do it at the same time as the air filter. Reason being you may get stumped with a charge for altering your policy (declaring mods).

You may even be pleasantly surprised and get away with no increase in premium. Then again, you may also win the lottery whilst being struck by lightening for the third time whilst stood in the same place...

OEM are far better quality for the small extra cost.

Do obey the torque settings exactly.

Over tighteneing causes as many problems as not tight enough.

Also remember to clean out the flame trap and breather at the same time.

Cheers

cheers fellas, thanks for the advice.

i phoned insurance, there is no increase. i decided not to ask yet about lowering, im not going to do it yet so things could change by then anyway.

they did ask if there was performance gains and i said no, cause as far as i am aware there is little difference? it's mostly just responsiveness on an 8v?

i will definitly pay attention to torque settings for the rocker, i have a torque ratchet so no problems there.

i will post back in this thread and let you guys know if i solved the leak or not.

cheers & Merry Christmas!
