still having trouble with my mk 2 1.9 jtd punto if you put the foot down say in 3rd gear past 3000 rpm after you let off the car wont rev properly it limits it to 3000 an no turbo whistle,, no smoke or misfire from what i can hear at the time although it ha had a misfire a couple of times the engine man light comes on an stays on for about 5 mins but usually restores full power after a minute or so any 1 got any clue to whats going wrong?
 
not sure mate iv had a quik look round pipes whats visable an cant see anything whats best way to check em all out as when its at low revs turbo seems fine is nippy as it shud be just when you go to the higher rev range all seems to kill it lol
 
the light comes on first then about 20 seconds later the restriction kicks in .. it lets power bak usually a minute later but the light only goes off once im on a level road :S .. iv only had the car 4 week mate so not sure doesnt look old though iv found a garage that does eml readings for 30 pound is that readsonable ?
 
ahh rite not sure what they do tbh,, its a quick fit garage if that helps. i tried my dads code reader but think thasts only a cheapo an it wouldn't communicate with the car :( i'll go ask them how an what they do for 30 cheers for your help

personally, id avoid kwik fit like the plague given the choice. they are useless. masters of non, jacks of little and idiots of lots. id sooner get the guy licking the windows of the special bus than trust those guys. and its unlikely they have anything more than a generic reader. best get either fiatecuscan (for free)and a cheap odb2-usb lead (£10) and go out there with a laptop, or go to a fiat specialist and have them read the codes.
 
ok where do i get thoswe uusb leads from ? and the software to read it ?

does it matter which cable you get i no some say fiat alfa etc but there like twice as much as the others some say skoda an audi etc which are like 7.99
 
i got the cable and software .. everytime i try it it says no ecu responce ? pledase help i tried every jtd 1.9 i can find an still wont work
 
if i try blanking off the egr valve which side do i block off or do i block them both off? cheers
 
i went through the device manager set it to com 1 on my laptop then changed latency to 1 then went to the software an also changed on there to com1
