Hi,

I've got a problem which has been on going since I brought the car last year.

I had to replace the ECU as it was faulty, it would never read an engine temp below 79oc, despite all other sensors reading correct running temp.

I had the new ECU fitted which reads correct temp, active diagnostics performed and was never seen reading above 70oc.

The other day though I was driving for about 1.5 hours during cold weather, and the EML came on with P0115 Engine Temp Circuit Malfunction as the error code. This was the problem I had with the old ECU and resulted in the engine fan running constantly.

When the EML came on with this ECU though, despite it being the same error code, the engine fan didn't run constantly.

I was performing active diagnostics this time though and noticed that the engine temperature increased to 60oc normally but then remained constant at 60oc before jumping up to 75oc at which point caused the EML to come on.

Could the cold and damp weather be affecting the earth points on the vehicle and causing interference with the temperature readings? Since the problem becomes apparent in the winter months.

Anyone got any ideas as to what could be causing the problem as ECU, temp sender and the connector to the temp sender have all been replaced.

The car isn't overheating heating and runs fine.

Running out of ideas and money.

Help greatly appreciated.
