Hi All

Im a newbie to driving and my first car is a 2001 Fiat Punto Elx..

Im having a bit of trouble with the engine.
The engine mangmnt light started flashing yesterday.My mate called around with a diagnostic machine and I got the following error.

Error P0335 - Generic cranckshaft position a circuit malfunction.

I have no idea what this means or how serious (ie expensive to fix) this may be.

Can anyone help please?

How's the car running? Could be the crankshaft position sensor faulty or broken

Its fine although i have noticed that after accellorating when i ease off the pedal the car judders a little bit,twice infact..then its ok..

You could remove the sensor and see if there is any difference. I'm not sure if removing it prevents you from being able to start the car or not though.

It's located around the bottom of the timing belt

I take it replacing the sensor wouldnt be a massive job then?

Nope. Unplug both ends (I think both ends are unpluggable) then new one in.

Check it first though

Nervmind ignore that! I'm thinking of just the wire. Could be that damaged but just unplug the wire from sensor, remove sensor, new one in and reconnect
