i read a post on here staeing that in order to bleed clutch, to remove pipe to let air out, i have just finished bleeding all brakes, but now clutch pedal is down to floor and i can not get it in gear help please
Y reg 1.2 8valve 3 door, there is definetly no bleed valve on slave cylinderThere is a bleed valve on top of the slave cylinder, done same way as the brakes
BUT which car do you have?
see attachedTake a picture of slave cylinder and post on here
its not, trust me it aint, there is nothing there to undo, it looks just like a bleed nipple on front calipers but there is nothing to undo, there was a piece of rubber on it but trust me there is nothing there to undoBleed valve right there on the right hand side. Under the rubber flap thingy
do i remove pipe all together, if so i have allready done this and no fluid comes out, i can not pump pedal as it right down, its driving me crazyHello mate
I'm pretty sure Bred was just about to say the same as me lol but here goes..
See the clip on your slave cylinder? With the thing attached to the car again and the hydraulic pipe re-attached, pull that clip out and then carefully tug on the hydraulic pipe until it clicks and pulls outwards maybe a quarter of an inch. (watch out for spillage as the clutch/brake fluid wil start to dribble out at this point).
Keep topping up the reservoir and after a few moments your clutch will be bled. Click it back together again, put the clip back in and your good to go!
i have put it back on, and tried what you say, and the pedal is still to the floor, the brake fluid res is full but no fluid comes out of the pipe when i take it of the clutch cylinder, i am close to giving up nowThe slave cylinder needs to go back onto the car first mate. Then try my instructions but just keep topping up the reservoir and it'll bleed itself
on the wirral, i can get the clutch pedal to stay up, but still no fluid comes out of the pipeDavid, try to relax mate and dont worry about giving up
There's lots of help on here remember dude
That pedal has to come up or the fluid cant trickle from the reservoir. Will it pull up by hand mate? Once up it needs to stay there for this to work.
I'd even go as far as saying, try tying a piece of string or something and tie it to the steering wheel to keep it up. Once bled it'll look after itself.
Where do you live mate? Anywhere near Hull by any chance?
the pipe has come right out of the slaveUnless you've got good lighting Dave, it may be best to leave this while the morning maybe? Always best to sleep on it if you see what I mean
However...with the pedal tied up and the clip out and the bleed assembly pulled out (it wont come right out of the slave, it had a stop so that wont happen) this'll definately work honest mate
If you get properly stuck, PM me your number and i'll give you a bell if it helps
there is no bleed screawAssuming cluch is new...
Put a plastic hose on slave cylinder bleed screw to direct fluid into a container
Make sure the clutch pedal return spring has not fallen off
Pull clutch pedal up and hold it
Open bleed screw on slave cylinder.
Push pedal down slowly.
Close bleed screw.
Lift clutch pedal.
Repeat until no bubbles and pedal action is normal.
It cant be done single-handed.
just a hole shaped like a bleed nipple, i think its for connecting a automatic bleeder to, to suck the fluid up through the pipeWhat's under that pstic cap on the right?
