Hi,

Went on holiday for 2 weeks so my 1999 mk1 was left standing for 2 weeks. Since then it has had a crap idle, occosionaly I'd cut out when slowing down. I'm going to take it in for a good service when I have money, I just want to do what I can for now.

To be honest I don't have a clue were the throttle body, do I take it out? Any help is great.

Thanks.

most likely the crappy iddle is electric. With all this recent rain thing can get damp under the bonnet.

Good point. I had to change the battery cause it was completely dead, and has been rubbish since. What Am I best off doing? Oh and my injector light came on the other day while idleing at a junction, The car is much better when warm.

Take off your air box, and the hole at the back that it connects into with a butterfly valve is the throttle body.
You can either clean off the valve and pour some carb cleaner (slowly) into the throttle body with the car running and revving a wee bit.
Or you can remove it from the car and give the inside a good manual cleaning.

Does sounds like it needs a good service though. Unlikely to be electrical or it'd effect it all the time. The being much better when warm does suggest throttle body cleaning though (y)
