Hi all,

Today, after finding out my new battery wasnt holding a full charge, I got it replaced and the steering was working.

FiatECUScan was reporting the old battery to have 12v, then down as low as 9.6v at turn over, then back up to 13.9v as the car idled.
A few days ago while the steering was working, I was monitoring the battery output, was 13.9 idling, then turned on a few things lights, radio and you could see it dipping down. Then started to rock the steering wheel on the spot, voltage dipped to below 13v (think it was around 12.8v) and EPS cut out.

On the drive home, it seemed to be about to fail, but just shuddered for a few seconds then returned to normal.
On going to drive again, about 4 hours later the steering worked when I started the car, then as I was turning left it made a loud clunk and p/s was gone again.

So, this evening Ive removed the motor and unplugged all connections on the EPS ECU. Before I took motor off i just re-seated the connectors and started the car - No EPS. Took motor off and had a look down at the relays, but didnt have a Torx driver small enough to open it. Gave the relays a few taps with a spanner, then reassembled it all. Started the car, and steering was working fine.

Im just hoping and praying that it will stay working for the next few days, because I've the NCT (MOT) retest tomorrow.

Fingers are crossed! :chin:

That what i was hoping, but for some reason it cut out the 2nd time.
What should the alternator output be? 13.9v or higher?
How much would new alternator be?

Is there a fuse for the EPS (mk2 1.2 8v), as ive searched and searched to no avail!
