A couple of mk2s in the scappy, i was wonderin what parts could be a straight swap onto my mk1.
Alloys? steering wheel? Bonnet badge? anything else?

you can put the mk2 bonnet badge on...gave mine to my neighbour :) IIRC you snap off the 2 plastic plugs and just use the centre bolt to fix it on.

Punto mk2 alloys will fit the mk1, just need to change the tyres to a lower profile. 257mm solid discs and calipers will fit too, a little bit of a step up from the 240mm discs fitted to the 55/60 mk1. Aerial will fit too. A few parts of the engine are the same.

Thanks guys, might just try and get decent mk1 alloys, cba mucking around with tyres at the mo. Think ill get a bonnet badge then, ive seen a few mk1s with the newer badge, better than my ****ty faded old one.(n)

You have to be a'd about the tyres. The rolling radius is too large on mk2 tyres to fit a mk1. At the very least, your speedo will be wrong (and the wrong side of wrong at that). Your car will sit too high and there is a chance of clearance issues.

Also, be a little careful with a bonnet badge. If the colours on your car don't look right, you end up making it look like a little mouse car.

Manson,

Check out my Punto for an idea what mk2 alloys look like on mk1. 14x6" is the standard alloy wheel size for the mk1, so you can use the 185/55 R14 tyres as fitted to the Punto GT. In the end, I chose mk2 alloys for ease of fitment (straight fit), price (only £250 brand new), and a hatred of that mounted-on-the-wall nonsense you see at Halfords and MotorWorld...

Compared to the 13" steel wheels, it made my car look significantly newer.
