hi i have a punto sx 75 when the engines cold it will only idle at around 500rpm and the car judders alot when it idles it also cuts out if i dont rev it a bit, when the engine warms up everything is fine and it idles ok, this has been going on for about 10 months ever since i replaced the head gasket not sure if it was like this before as i was given the car broken and it had been sitting on the drive for about 2 years.
There is no loss of power or anything else out of the ordinary with the car, does anyone have any ideas?

Also look for an air leak around the throttle body. Tramp air will make it run weak which might be more noticeable when its cold - in effect the "choke" isnt working properly.

Nope I had the same problem, not 100% sure why it doesn't effect it when hot but it cured it for me. Only started again when i noticed oil being sucked into my throttle body. But thats because it needs a new engine :p My other 2 puntos have good engines!

Awesome i'll have a go at cleaning it tomorrow then, one more question, what did you use to clean it, white spirit? something similar? i dont want to go damaging anything, this is the only problem i have left with the engine then it will be working perfectly lol

Let us know how you get on, also after cleaning just give the valve a bit of a spray with WD40. Keeps it going nicely :p Hell give everything a spray of WD40! (y)
Thank you sooooo much bredsticz, it worked perfectly, car idles fine now when its cold, one quick question, this isnt to do with the engine, but instead of making a new thread thought you or someone else who looks might have an idea, if i fit alloy wheels onto my punto do i have to claim them on insurance and will it go up by much if i do, i guess it would depend on the price i payed for them wouldn't it.
