Hi all,

Just after some expert advice... failing that any tips/advice would be apprieciated!

Having a look at a 2002 MK2 Punto tomorrow. Not sure what trim level, advertised as a 1.2 5 door Punto. 14,000 on the clock priced at 3k.

My initial thoughts were that it is a little over priced, however with the low millage i'm thinking it will have very few if any issues... having said that, it is still nearly 8 years old which may throw up other potebtial problems.

Is there anything other than the usual things to look out for? Belts, pump etc?

This mill be mainly a 2nd car for us used by the Mrs to ferry our little boy around, so need to make sure i'm buying a solid vehicle.

Having owned a Bravo in the past i found it to be the most reliable car i've owned. With only the clutch and a thermostat needing to be replaced other than the usual wear and tear items in 8 years of owning it. So i'm looking for the similar sort of reliability from the punto.

Many thanks

I own a 2000 1.2 MK2 Punto, with 25,000 (just coming up to 26,000) on the clock. It has been in the family since new and when it was due to be replaced, a Hyundai garage valued it at £1,200 and even offered to display it on their forecourt because of its immaculate condition; however, the purchase never went ahead, so the Punto is now mine!

I would see if you could barter it down a little, see if you can get £2,500 for it, but I'd say the car you're looking sounds like a bargain. :)
