Hey all - hoping you can help me with a wiper blade problem.

The front blade on the driver's side of my Mk2 Punto seems to stop quite short when in use and as a result is missing a whole chunk of the window right in front of me.

I'm not sure if it's a design flaw or a fault with my car in particular but it's causing a problem as it's pretty much blocking a lot of my vision from my right eye and forcing me to lean to the left from time to time - it's even worse when I'm taking a bend to the right as even more of the road is obscured as a result.

I've taken pictures (here & here)to show you where the blade is stopping so you can see how much it's leaving "un-wiped".

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what needs to be done to resolve the problem, be it a fault or a flaw. Anyone know what's causing it and how it can be fixed?

Thanks for any help,

Adam

undo the nut, remove the wipers arms and reinsert them in another position then put the nut back on.

when unused the wipers are resting on the plastic bit where they are attached or on the windshield?

If the two wipers are sweeping together it is not a problem with just one side, but the whole system. If the total sweep is enough, but in the wrong radius the arms need repositioning. But this can only be the case if someone put them in the wrong place and at the other end they would going too far down. The distance of movement before the wipers travel the other way is controlled by a mechanism in the motor gearbox on ones I am familiar with. But I have never had a Fiat one to bits.

Thanks for the replies.

The wiper on the driver's side sits just at the black strip on the bottom of the windshield - on the glass but just before it becomes transparent.

I'll try it out but I imagine repositioning the wiper will leave it in view when switched off (if you know what I mean)... it doesn't appear to be going too far in the opposite direction.

If it is a problem with the system as a whole what is the solution? Could there be something blocking it from making a full movement or is it a mechanical problem that would require replacements etc.?

Repositioning wipers arms is only a temporary solution then, so u can drive safe.

The problem must come from a modified linkage (maybe some levers are too short), or the motor itself (turning rotation too short). Compare your punto linkage with another punto and see if theres any diference.
Regarding the motor I dunno if it was swaped with another type or it's just an electrical fault

My wife's does the same. The linkage is worn.

If you lift the wiper off the screen you will find that it wobbles about when moved.
