Hey guys, i'm now fed up with the 8v crappy engine, and me thinks its on its last legs after only 19k :0
So i want a new new engine!!!!
which Fiat engines will fit my Mk2????

Obviously the 1242 cc 8v and 1242 16v (how much difference is there in the rest of the drivetrain between the 8v and 16v???)

I've heard that the 1.4GT engine would fit it, is this true and what else would have to be changed?

1.8hgt block?

any others?

P.S dont tell me its not worth it doin up a punto! and it wud be easier to buy a faster car bla bla bla heh, i kno!!! i jus love my punto!

If you know what your doing you wouldn't ask.

you don't so talk to the company that would do the conversion for you.

Be prepared to spend between 6-8k for a decent conversion.

The GT conversion from avanti tuning is 8K.

I take it your buying a different car now then lol.

Yep, was me who was getting/GOT a stilo :( bought 1 and then within 2 weeks i lost my job so i had to sell it! luckily for me i still had the Punto, now i had the punto again and i my friend has a friend who has 2 engines, a 1.8HGT and a 1.4 GT, so gettin the engine is not a problem, its just a matter of fitting it to the car, surely if i can get hold of the Engine, gearbox, ECU, Loom and Dials at minimal cost it wouldnt cost 8k!!!!, can buy a bloody 20v Coupe 4 tha type of dosh!!

I think...

You are being a little over optimistic here.

There is a lot of work involved, and its not all straight forward, then there is the cost of insurance, your car will cost more than an HGT to insure, so if you're skint, I get your 1.2 sorted.

How have you managed to knack it in 19k anyhow? Maybe you should invest in a driving refresher course instead :D
