my steering has gone very heavy, seems more so when the wheel is turned to the right than the left. I have had the tracking checked and its spot on, and also the tyre pressures are all correct.. Any Ideas....?

any ideas anyone, really gettin on my nerves as i only brought the car a week ago and this was the sort of problem i was fed up of with my old car. Vauxhall Nova!

Already Checked

I found out, putting som extra pressuare make its a bit easier. Just check that you dont put on more than the tyres can take.

Might be that the internal's of the rack have worn etc, even though it is manual steering - the steering was really heavy on my uno turbo when i first got it, changed the rack and was miles better.

no idea really, all i know is that when i had the car i took it in to see if the tracking was out, and they had put the front wheels on the wrong way, they are directional tyres and the tread has to face in a certain way, he changed them over and the steering was a lot better for a couple of days, now it has gone crap again. I know the front tyres need changing very soon think they are just above legal limit. Im no mechanic but i wouldnt think the tread would make much difference to the heaviness of the steering

Did you have a powered steering car b4? I only because I was wondering if you just weren't used to it...

My steering is extremely heavy when the engine is off, but I don't know whether that is because Powered steering mechanims is different to.....non-powered steering.
