I have just changed the cat and post cat lambda sensor on a y reg 1.2 16v sporting, after two days of running the engine warning light has come on and stayed on although there has been no drop in power at all and the car seems to be running fine, any ideas????

Regards

You may need to go to Fiat to get it checked out, i m sure if they find nothing wrong they'll clear the errors on there computer ;)

They charge regardless.

Get an auto electrician out.

Hi guys am gonna disconnect the battrey overnight and reset the ecu as suggested and see if the light reappears, hopefully not as this car is a nightmare, its not long had a second head gasket and also when i took the old cat off someone had cut a patch out of the side of it, removed the insides then welded the plate back on, i assume it had been noisy but surely this was a cowboy job.

will post and give results

Ok remember to have all your radiocodes b4 you unplug the battery. Once you reconect the battery, restart the car and leave it to idle for a bout 5 minutes or so, dont touch the throttle during this. When done switch it off then take it for a normal drive off about 15-20 mins or so over different speed roads and then it should be all sorted. This allows to ECU to 're-learn' the settings for the engine

Had just recently done this on my Punto HGT 2001 and all is good :)

Let me know how you get along

Hi Guys, i only read the last post after i had connected the battery this morning so i didnt leave it to idle for 5 mins etc but the warning light was still on anyway, i assume it should have gone out when i started it. Was thinking it may be the pre cat lambda as the garage said it may need one aswell as a new cat so i tried to check them doing the following.

With the engine idling i measured the voltage on the pre cat where i had a fixed 12v and the wire next to it was up and down, i then checked the post cat and that had the same 12v feed but the other wire was a steady 12 v instead of up and down, i assume this means they are working correctly, would i be right.

downstream sensor (post cat) is only there to monitor the catalyst efficency(EOBD), it should have a steady voltage (some dip ever so often) however a constantly switching downstream sensor mean cat is knackered.

Hi guys i put my mates lappy on this car with an elm interface and the code its throwing up is P0136 02 sensor bank 1 sensor 2 circuit malfunction, does this mean my pre cat lambda is knackered aswell as i already changed post cat when i changed the cat cause it had ripped the threads off.
