I'd appreciate any help with my MK1 (60s 1.2 8 valve), as im abit stumped! I have a few minor problems:

-rattling over rough ground on the front right (suspension?),
-whiny exhaust on start up,
-struggles to start 1 in every 50 times

But iv'e had a look under the bonnet, and theirs a box in the bottom/lower front left that has a Blue lead arching across the top of it. One end is connected to its hole, but the other isnt :S does anyone know what this box is, and what problems could this disconnection cause? could it be the culprit to any of my problems above? as shown in the pic the lead runs around to the back of the

to what i think is a spark plug and the altenator. Any help at all would be really apprecited! cheers guys.

that is the charcoal canister. part of the emissions control / vapor burn system.

it stores fuel vapour from the fuel tank and under the correct conditions it purges it into the inlet system.

where is it not connected?

If you look on the first picture the blue lead, with the end closest to the camera. It should be sealed around the hole it hovers over, but it moves with the car. Any suggestions on what i should use to seal it??

some chub a chub type loly pops have a hollow stick that can be cut and used to re joing the blue tube.

or you can remove that bit off the box go scrappy an get new one. it just slides off

Thanks Binki, Ive got half a scrapped punto on my drive i steal the part off. Whereabout does it disconnect? is it the black box with the two black cables that slides, or is it the rusty catch on the side?
