Hi,

i have a 05 plate 1.2 punto active. I have a really annoying rattleing noise coming from the boots, it sounds like metal on metal. I have looked everywhere and cant find where the noise is coming from. tried padding out the rubber seals but that mad no difference... any ideas guys.

also n00b of a question. my car sounds like its misfiring loads, how can i check which spark plug it is if it is in fact the plugs. some one said it might be the ht coil?? pfft not got a clue what that is of where to find it!!

any help is appreciated guys

cheers
Ben

as a possible metal sound it could be the lock on the bott causing the problem if lose and difficult to close, but more likely is the exhaust hitting something at the back

Pull the plugs out one by one. Do the first and if you hear a change in the cars revs its fine then put it back and then move to the next. Once you find the culpret leave it unpluged then plug the next one into it turn the engine back on then pull it back out. If there is a change in sound you know its a plug if there isnt its a coil.

Thanks for the help guys. I'll check out the sparks shortly seems quite a simple task!!

The boot is easy to close, and just quickly checked the exhaust, there is very little give on the exhaust, it doesnt get close enough to the car body for it to hit any thing! i'll keep looking, im not sure if someone has knocked my car enough to knock the boot out slightly. cant find any marks on it anywhere though :$

I have the simialr problem, i thought it was the boot at first but i found it to be the back seats, it was rattling against the latch what holds it in place. Worth a check.
If you get what i mean?

solved it!!

i took the plastic cover off the boot, it turns out it was the metal clasp that locks the boot closed, similar to what was previously mentioned. anyways i tightened the bolt and it doesn't rattle any more!!

other then that i did check the back seat, to which i found a broken clasp, lucky me!! must have been my stupid dog jumping about in the back of the car.

I also had a look at the spark plugs, kept giving myself some wicked electric shocks cos i kept forgetting to switch the engine off haha. nevertheless its not the plugs...oh and the plugs are far from simple to get to, i had to take the air filter off and unplug half of the engine electrics just to get two of them out :bang:
