hello all, seen a 2000 punto for sale with cracked cylinder head and i was wondering what that is and how much it would averagely cost to fix it.

is a cracked cylinder head same as getting a blown head gasket

no its not the same, gasket gone means you just need to fix it, if head is cracked you need a new head

recon heads usually about 500 quid.

What engine is it? A complete good condition second hand head should cost no more than 50-100 depending on model. A skim (worth doing to make sure the mating face is flat) would cost between 20-50 depending on where you go. It's then the cost of a gasket kit, new cam belt kit and then if there's anything else to fix on it you need to factor that cost in too.

Yeah, you're looking at around 100 quid for a new head and stuff, and then theres gasket sets and new head bolts which shouldnt be too much. Luckily, when we had a cracked head, dad new someone who was scrapping his daughters Punto because their horse decided to take a seat on the front end . That horse saved us quite a bit of money tbh... Good luck with it mate
