Hey all. Got a 1.2 mk 2 active. At 4000 rpm when driving there is this awful vibration sound. After 4000 rpm it goes. !! This only happens when driving. Not when just revving. Does anyone have any idea what this could be. It's worrying me.

Hey, long time reader first time, sign up and poster.

I have this exact problem, though I'm not sure if mines the RPM, as i tested it out the other day and as soon as i hit 74mph the engine makes this horrid sound similar to what your experiencing, but as soon as you hit about 76mph it goes... its odd.. just those 2mph

I'll check the RPM as i didn't think to glance over there.. I know its so far away from the speedo :) and ill post back as it might be that I have the exact same as you

Does this only happen in one gear or all of them that you are aware of (I wouldnt advise checking reverse)?

happens only when in gear, but the buzzing is not from the gearbox. I dont know what it is

And I dont know where the sound is coming from, I thought it was from the exhaust. Under the car.

I would imagine it is the clutch plates then. Not sure how to test that without dismantling it though :(

hmm, thats not good then. I really dont see how this can be the problem. I will have to look into it.

Could it be a loose baffle in the zorst?

that is what i thought, but it only does it when driving. It wont do it when sitting still

this could still be the issue mind. I just need to find out how lol

Well, after an experiment last night, I found this sound to be the exhaust vibrating!!

It is obviously amplified when the car is driving. Dont know which bit it is now, so may have to fork out for a new exhaust!

Thats rocker cover, cam, exhaust, tyres lololol

the list is endless with this little car!

With regards to the exhaust making the noise...have you looked under the car to see any fresh marks of where it's been hitting? It could just be that the exhaust needs shifting a tad bit...save you some pennies. :)

Just thought...if it's still a problem...try checking the heat shield that's over the exhaust manifold. It's probably come loose as the bolts have corroeded away a tad bit and just needs either adjusting or a washer/bolt.
