Hi there,

I have a 2001 Punto which has developed a problem that make the steering wheel wobble. Not only can it be felt at faster speeds, but you can feel it slowly even at parking speed.

I dropped it into a well known high st garage who couldn't find anything wrong with it.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Gary.

Hi mate,

Do you know what they checked?

As its happening at low speeds, my first thoughts would be bent wheel or lump/defect in tyre.

Get your tracking checked out, all tyres balanced, inflate all your tyres to the correct pressure. I had a recent shock put on one side of the car and it kept doing this and I had to keep going back for my tracking to be checked.

Take it on another drive, if it still does it, can you describe it more, does it sometimes randomly pull to one side on accelleration? If it does sounds like track rod ends are on the way out.

Hi guys,

I not sure what they checked for, but they mentioned the brake pads/discs, & tyres looked fine. I'll take a closer look when I get home. Think I may run it into another garage as well. I'll let you know how it goes. Just a thought, the car has one of those buttons you press for lightening the steering for parking, Could it be connected to that?

Thanks lads.

Gary

It wont be connected to the city steering, this just turns up the power steering motor so ti makes the steering lighter. It wont cause the wobble your experiancing
