Hi all!,

after some googling just discovered this forum so thought I might give it a try to see if anyone else knows whats up.

Basically for a few weeks Polly (my punto ) had been going really sluggishly into drive from park/reverse. I was out at a shopping centre, got back in the car, put her in drive and just "rvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv." was revving and revving her on but was just stationary. Tried a few times turning engine off etc but we were stuck solid. Reverse works perfectly though. Got a nice £50 bill from the AA for towing and the other day I just thought "ah, what if its fixed itself?"

Got in, tried to drive off, nothing, and then I was persistent, we moved off and were fine driving about my local streets. Got the train back to uni as I didn't want to risk getting stuck on the motorway with dodgy gearbox but then returned today and got in. Sluggish start and we were fine, tried it again and we juddered, stalled (yes my auto stalls sometimes in low gear) but were ok in the end.

Anyone heard of this before? I don't fancy paying for a new gearbox, perhaps something needs adjusting.

is it a mk1? if so probably needs new powder clutch, and if the aa towed it far or 2 fast a new gearbox too, a cvt shouldnt really be towed

No no it's a mk2. It needs a new gearbox for sure now, no idea on costs or where to go to be honest

they are about 500 quid from a scrappy
