My girlfriend has a Fiat Punto ELX 1.2 16v which has been running fine since we got it a few months back i swtiched out the standard stereo for a new one and the car was still working fine no problems.

She tried to start the car a couple of days ago with no luck would not even turn over, the clock was dead and the central locking was non existent, we got a friend over to help us look at the car not being up on anything car wise, he found that a cable leading into the solenoid on the starter motor was loose so after a jiggly the power was restored to the car, and which is promptly turned over and started.

Everytime the car door is open now the alarm sounds and the hazard lights start to flash, this car only has standard key not remote locking so there is no way we can think of that will turn the alarm off, also while in motion the car hazards also flash 1 time then stop then again a few times then will flash 2 times same method then moves onto 3 flashes then back to one, looking in the manual this states that the doors/bonnet/boot is not closed properly but they have been checked and are closed, the alarm will also sound when the car is moving after a short period of time the only way to stop the alarm from sounding is to turn the car of then restart it.

Any ideas on how to fix this problem will be greatly apperchiated.

Sounds like the ECU has gone a bit barmy on you, what is the colour of the key you have? Blue or red(ish)?
