Various threads discuss airbag warning lamps but just to clarify, it does not constitute a failure for MOT purposes.
Red airbag fault lamp on (and amber passenger airbag diabled lamp on) when taking Mk2b for its MOT two days ago.
I asked the garage manager and he said it's just an advisory. In the event, it wasn't even noted as an advisory.
Lamps still on though! Have checked all components and wiring, no fault found. Probably would go away if reset by Fiat main dealer but reluctant to part with £40 or whatever it costs to do that. Have sussed out how to make the light go off by jumpering out at airbag ECU connector (leave plug off ECU and link Pin 2 Blue/Red to Pin 10 Light Blue/White) but haven't tried it. Haven't got past the "what if I'm wrong and it deploys the airbag" stage yet.
