I had to replace the switch assembly on my Mk2 Punto steering column. I followed all the instructions in the Haynes manual about de-activating the airbag system and aligning the clock spring etc. However after completing the work the airbag warning light is staying on. I did switch on the ignition with the airbag removed to check the operation of the wipers as that was the original problem. Could switching on the ignition with the airbag removed trigger a fault, and if so how do I reset it.

Switching on the ignition with the airbag disconnected will definately be why the light has come on. Best bet is to get it re-set at a fiat dealer, as it cannot be re-set as easily as an EOBD light can be.
