Technical Help in changing transmission oil

Ah cripes ... that's expensive man :) ... but I guess this is the price we have to pay for the comfort of driving an automatic car :)))

Just what ever you do, DO NOT OVERFILL!

If you do, empty some. And just so you know, unfortunatly CVT oil isn't cheap:(. £10 a Litre, or about £38 if you buy a 5 litre bottle. (for my CVT oil anyways, which is the older stuff according to lil pip, so your might be less)

So lil pip, what the difference between this newer CVT and say mine out of interest? I thought they all use the same CVT oil:confused:

double check. thinking maybe 2.6 now  its not for engine it for cvt

but i seem to remember having to buy 4 bottles

OK - I changed my CVT oil after I consulted NZ's specialist CVT repairer.
He supplied me with a pink metal can of NISSAN CVT NS-1 which is apparently the Nissan equivalent of CVT-NG. The can was 4 litres and very expensive (well over $100/48 pounds).

He then told me that I needed a little more than that and supplied me with another litre (in a part-used can) :bang:

When I filled the transmission, I put in all the first can and was just starting on the second when I decided to check the level. It was overfilled, so I stopped. It's been overfilled ever since  I wonder if/how that causes harm? I can only think happy, positive thoughts about reduced contamination and lower temperature?

Therefore I believe you dave when you say the capacity is 3.6L (y)

The specialist also supplied me with a genuine Nissan filter and told me that the filter is high-pressure - substituting an engine oil filter (e.g. a Toyota one that fits) causes the filter casing to split at the seam (as he showed me). And finally, if you put ATF in, the metal belt chews into one of the pulleys (he showed me that too). He actually had a collection of four Punto transmissions undergoing overhaul.

...along with the snails-pace acceleration and the increased fuel consumption, yes... :) I'd love to convert mine to manual transmission, but it's a lot of parts to change - apparently even the body computer needs a different program.

When we were talking about this in the classic panda section (had to change gearbox sump, and obviously fluid after a pothole accident that I'm still waiting for the money for, but we won't go there, hehe) Dave (I think it was Dave) kept telling me not to over fill what ever I do because it will blow seals and gaskets which will cost loads:eek::yuck:

So just a word of warning, and as I say, if you do over fill (even slightly) I personally would drain a little out(y), Just to be on the safe side;)

It's a CVT, should have better acceleration and fuel consumption of the equivilent Maunal (in theiory anyway:p)

I wouldn't change my CVT for the world! Love them so much that we've buying another on Thursday:eek::slayer:

erm well as everyone knows the atf will anialate them

the old cvt will cause excess wear and failure in a short period of time it was simply not good enough for the newere desighns of box

so they made this new what use to be called cvt 2 but i now understand is called cvt ng same thing

the Nissan filter and Nissan equivalent oil will both be fine as they are the same gearbox as dave will tell you but i can guarantee you parts from Nissan here in the uk anyway are massively overpriced

in most easterlys case his auto is the same as a subaru justy auto ecvt box only his filter is inside the sump just to be an arse

You got that right(y), and they're £90 a time, yes £90:eek:, plus the price of the gasket at £15 you need evertime the sump is removed:mad:

lol.

Whats a or the ATF?
